BUFFETT, GATES GO TO THE MATTRESSES – AT NEBRASKA FURNITURE MART

OMAHA, Neb. – What do a couple of billionaire friends do when they visit Nebraska Furniture Mart’s flagship store here? Try out the mattresses, of course.

A CNBC story talks about the visit that Warren Buffett and Bill Gates recently made to the sprawling Nebraska Furniture Mart store – so big that Buffett couldn’t figure out how to get out.

In a “gatesnotes” video accompanying the CNBC story, Buffett reveals his secret career goal.

“My real vocational goal was to be a mattress tester,” he told Gates. “I thought that would be a terrific job. I never got that, but they did name a mattress after me: ‘the Warren.'”

Buffett and Gates lay down on the Warren, which carries the tag line: “Sleep soundly. You’ve made a wise investment.”

Buffett was asked if he recalled buying his first mattress. He admitted that he didn’t do much household buying.
